Introduction to Missiology
Course Description
An introductory study of the biblical, historical, and practical foundations of Christian missions. Students will trace the mission of God from creation through the Old and New Testaments, survey the history of the Christian missionary movement, and examine contemporary missiological issues facing the global church. Emphasis is placed on grounding missionary practice in the biblical text and in the historic confessions of the evangelical Baptist tradition.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
• Articulate a biblical theology of mission rooted in both the Old and New Testaments.
• Summarize the major movements and figures in the history of Christian missions.
• Evaluate contemporary missiological issues, including contextualization and unreached people groups.
• Produce written work that demonstrates competent theological research and Turabian-style documentation.
• Articulate a personal sense of calling in relation to the Great Commission.
